SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A popular cafe in the Mission District is closing after five years. Stonemill Matcha is closing its doors for good at the end of the month, the business announced on Instagram earlier this week. Beard Papa’s to open new location in East Bay The cafe, located at 561 Valencia St., will hold its final day for business on Sunday, Aug. 27. Stonemill Matcha is known for its matcha drinks, and it also serves food. The cafe's hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Wednesday through Sunday; indoor dining hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.Plenty of loyal customers commented on the cafe's closure. Hundreds of comments piled in the Instagram post, expressing their support for the business. With the announcement of the closure, Stonemill Matcha has seen an increase in business. An hours-long standoff between police and a barricaded suspect continued in Charlestown Saturday night, with police on scene and the area blocked off as of around 9 p.m. Boston police initially responded to the area of Caldwell Street Saturday afternoon. Emergency crews were then in the area throughout the afternoon, with SWAT personnel and an armored vehicle spotted on scene. Neighbors speaking with 7NEWS said they called police because they were worried about a neighbor who was in his apartment. With police responding, some said they came home to realize they could not park in the area. Police have been on the scene of a standoff involving a barricaded man in Charlestown for hours.A call came in at 4:27 p.m. Saturday for a report of a man barricaded within an apartment building at 30 Caldwell St. Police have been at the scene since that time, according to Officer Michael Torigian, a Boston Police Department spokesman.The event has been labeled a “Code 99,” which can mean multiple things including a barricaded suspect, he said.Another department spokesman on the scene confirmed that there had been no violent incidents during the barricade situation but that police remained on the scene.In a separate incident, the evening became even more chaotic as other officers responded to reports of smash and grabs in Downtown Crossing at around 8 p.m. While a police report was not yet available, Torigian said that event notes indicate there were between a baker’s dozen and 30 people suspected. A wild and lengthy brawl broke out between the Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians in the sixth inning Saturday night at Progressive Field.Guardians third baseman José Ramírez doubled to right and slide headfirst into second, where Sox shortstop Tim Anderson applied the tag.The two exchanged words and then punches were thrown as the benches cleared.
