ISTANBUL (AP) — The Champions League final on Saturday in Turkey is the biggest test of UEFA’s operations for major cup finals since the chaotic and near-fatal title game in Paris last year.Just five weeks ago, UEFA detailed an overhaul of its big-game management after being widely blamed in a scathing report in February into security failures at Stade de France when Real Madrid played Liverpool last year.In Istanbul on Saturday, UEFA’s changes seemed to be working on a warm, bustling but calm day as Manchester City and Inter Milan fans traveled from the city center to the 72,000-seat Atatürk Olympic Stadium in the western suburbs. The journey of about 25-kilometers (15 miles) took more than two hours for some fans amid the bustling traffic, but supporters arriving at the stadium reported no serious issues 75 minutes before kickoff. At one checkpoint, a cluster of national flags had been confiscated from fans. But police working at ticket and bag checks at the north end of the stadiu...

MIAMI (AP) — The Denver Nuggets act like they’ve been here before. There is an unmistakable poise to the Nuggets, who are only one win away from their first NBA championship and could hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy as early as Monday night when the finals return to Denver for Game 5. Their stars have been starry in their first finals appearance. Their role players have delivered. There hasn’t been a colossal blunder. And even on the cusp of a title, they refuse to change their approach.“We need to win one more,” two-time MVP Nikola Jokic said. That’s the Nuggets. Simple. Effective. Blunt. With Jokic and Jamal Murray leading the way, and with basically a different person stepping up to be the third hero every night so far for the Nuggets, they have the Miami Heat in serious trouble now. Trump blasts federal indictment as ‘baseless’ in speech to Republicans in Georgia

COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) — Former President Donald Trump on Saturday blasted his historic federal indictment as “ridiculous” and “baseless,” saying in his first public appearance since the charges were unsealed that the 37 felony counts were an attack on his supporters as he tried to turn legal peril into political advantage.Speaking at the Georgia Republican Convention, Trump cast his indictment by the Department of Justice as an attempt to hurt his chances of returning to the White House as he campaigns for a second term in office.“They’ve launched one witch hunt after another to try and stop our movement, to thwart the will of the American people,” Trump said, later adding, “In the end, they’re not coming after me. They’re coming after you.”The strategy is a well-worn one for Trump, who remains the front-runner for the 2024 GOP nomination despite his mounting legal woes. He planned to speak to a Republican audience in North Carolina later Saturday. The indictment unsealed Fr...
