Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins loves fighting for his football life Kirk Cousins joked that the last time he truly felt like his job was safe goes way back to when he was the starter at Holland Christian High School in his hometown of Holland, Mich. That’s because ever since then, he has been conditioned to fight for his football life.Whether it was immediately having to compete for the starting job at Michigan State in college, or being drafted by the franchise now known as the Washington Commanders to be a backup, Cousins was often overlooked on his way to becoming the franchise quarterback of the Vikings. All of it has prepared Cousins to prove himself once again as he plays out his contract with the Vikings without anything guaranteed beyond this season.“It’s sort of been life for me,” he said. “I’ve been doing it for 16 years.”To be clear, Cousins isn’t throwing himself a pity party with that statement. He’s simply stating a fact that he has had to scratch and claw to get to where he is right...

Element of surprise gone in the mist, CU Buffs receivers still operating with same confidence as Nebraska visits: “I hate them” BOULDER — The singular brazenness and kinship of the 2023 Buffs converged on one fourth-quarter play during their surgical disassembly of TCU’s defense last week.Jimmy Horn Jr. was assigned a post route, but as the pocket collapsed on quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Horn identified more empty space to the outside. Nobody truly knew what to expect from the Deion Sanders era, and when the curtain was finally pulled back, the grand reveal was an overwhelming display of synchronized eyes, legs and minds.
